First, check out this article (a PDF file) in the New York Times (thanks Baze) about Warren Zevon. In dying he is just as hard to fathom, alternately poignant, whimsical and brooding. This piece sums up a career nicely, and will have you laughing through the tears, at least if you're a Zevon fan.
Secondly, indulge me for a moment. I have been managing a large, complex project here at IBM for over a year, and today is launch day. At 6 p.m. tonite, we will switch all pointers to the new Tivoli Software web site residing in the ibm.com domain. I was around for the "adolescent" years of Tivoli.com, building it up to a robust site chock full of content, and now I'm leading the way towards Tivoli.com's retirement. For a few hours today, both sites will exist, so you can see a "Before and After". Be forewarned, we are making subtle changes and fixes to the ibm.com pages, so there may be some glitches during the day today.
Lastly, go visit www.terrytate.reebok.com and view some of the funniest business commericals I've seen in years. This is one of the Super Bowl commericals, but they show it in long form (~4 mins) as well as some other shorts. Hilarious.

NEW YORK, January 21, 2003 - Break out the champagne and celebrate, sweetie - those outrageous heroines of hedonism are back! Patsy (Joanna Lumley) and Edina (Jennifer Saunders) cross the Atlantic for a one-hour "Absolutely Fabulous in New York" special to debut on COMEDY CENTRAL on February 8 at 8:00 p.m.
"Absolutely Fabulous in New York" is a BBC Production in association with COMEDY CENTRAL and will include the original cast members. The special also features special guest stars Whoopi Goldberg, Debbie Harry, Graham Norton, Danny Burstein, Rufus Wainwright and Josh Hamilton as Edina's long-lost son, Serge.
"Absolutely Fabulous in New York" will also air on February 8 at 2:30 a.m.
Patsy has now left her job on a glossy magazine to become a very important creative director and buyer for "Jeremy's," a new-concept fashion store. This gives Patsy, Fleur (Harriet Thorpe), and Catriona (Helen Lederer) the perfect opportunity to take London Fashion Week by storm. Having gotten a taste for flash photography, frocks and male models, Patsy sets her sights across the Atlantic and plans a trip to New York for Fashion Week.
Meanwhile, Edina, with no company left to run, tries to find yet more new ways to lose weight and attempts to train Bubble (Jane Horrocks) as her personal PA. However, Mother (June Whitfield) lets it slip that Eddie's long lost son Serge is not studying at the bottom of the ocean, but living in the party capital of America - New York City. Despite Saffy's best attempts to hide her brother's exact whereabouts, Eddie and Patsy take on the Big Apple in search of Serge and some partying. The pair wreack havoc in the city that never sleeps, partying at fashions shows and becoming a true "duo" with the help of gay counselor Whoopi Goldberg.
"Absolutely Fabulous" originally aired in the UK on the BBC in 1992 and American audiences fell in love with the outrageous duo when the series began airing on COMEDY CENTRAL in July of 1994. The series stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley as two 40ish chain smoking, over-the-top fad-chasers who take the London fashion scene by storm. Edina is a twice-divorced working mother who combines her career as a fashion publicist with a wild social life, while attending to the needs of her very studious, straight-laced daughter Saffy, who is appalled by her mother's lifestyle. Patsy is Edina's glamorous and promiscuous best friend and confidant who's never seen without a cigarette in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other.
"Absolutely Fabulous" is a BBC Entertainment Production for BBC ONE, written by Jennifer Saunders with executive producer Jon Plowman, producer Jo Sargent and director Tristram Shapeero. BBC Worldwide America (BBCWA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of BBC Worldwide, the main commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). BBC Sales Company, a joint venture of BBC Worldwide Americas and Discovery Communications, Inc. (DCI) licenses, co-produces and distributes television programs in the United States and Canada on behalf of the BBC and DCI.
COMEDY CENTRAL, the only all-comedy network, currently is seen in more than 82 million homes nationwide. COMEDY CENTRAL is owned by Comedy Partners, a 50-50 joint venture of Time Warner Entertainment Company and Viacom. COMEDY CENTRAL is a registered trademark of Comedy Partners.
