On email..

I'm glad that both Steve & Steve feel pretty strongly about a sense of karmic obligation to return an email of interest from a stranger who may or may not be really what they represent themselves to be. I generally take things with a grain of salt in such semi-anonymous formats.

What *I* feel earns more karmic poison is not getting a reply from someone that you know when you ask a direct question in email. I've got someone that I've been trying to invite over for dinner, and have sent 2 emails asking specifically, "When's a good day for you?" No response. I've no clue why this is threatening or otherwise worthy of being ignored. Silence speaks volumes.

Hello all. I haven't been posting in awhile either, but with the best possible excuse. An extended hospital stay and recovery have temporarily derailed my "rapier-like" wit and wisdom. But now I'm back.

I, too, love the updated color scheme and functionality. All hail Jerry.

For the morbidly curious, my short story about the surgery I just endured has been published by a friend's site, Public Realm, or you can read it on my home site here.

It's good to be back.

By the way Leah, I don't think it's dishonest of you to intend to not reply to anyone who responds to your personal. I think you may end up being surprised by someone who writes, and it may drive you to respond and make your concerns moot. You're not hurting anyone.

So I haven't been here in a long while either. . . Sorry I have been -absent.

I just got back from my first trip to Chicago, and let me tell you I had a blast.

It was the first vaccation I have had in years, and I plan to go back asap.

I will post more soon....

yours,
Robert

Hi! I haven't been here for awhile, and wow, has this place changed. Love the color! Anyhoo, I have a delimma: I currently have a personal ad up on Salon.com (under the name "justlikeme," for any who are interested). I have come to the conclusion that I more than likely have no intention of responding to any replies I get, nor do I intend to reply to any ads (that would cost money!). All I really want to be is Salon's Catch of the Day (or a featured profile, since Premium service doesn't advertise a Catch of the Day). My question is, morally and ethically, am I being dishonest by keeping the ad up there for my own reasons? Is it false advertising? Should I be concerned about the consumer's feelings? I have obviously already made my decision to keep the ad up, since I haven't taken it down. I'm just wondering what someone who doesn't know me (but knows Jerry) might think.

Why I Miss NYC
Fine, well-reasoned op-ed pieces like this one on the kid from the Soprano's who was convicted of petty larceny. Ahh NY! No one does it better. And the author is right too, which is nice, but not a requirement...

In keeping with the theme (?) of an ongoing spectrum of sex, The woman who brought the term "gag reflex" into common use way back in 1972, "Deep Throat" star Linda Lovelace has died at 53 of injuries sustained in an auto collision. If you've forgotten about (or never seen nor heard of) the classic porn film, here is a link (that acutally calls it Capra-esque!). Lovelace went on to a "career" as an anti-porn crusader after her auspicious film debut. And no, I don't think she had anything to do with her Watergate counterpart.

Let it be known that the entire spectrum of sexual innuendo can be discussed, or at least ogled on this blog. 8-bit smut is alive and well at the Girls of '64, as in Commodore 64. Its technically not work safe.

Then there's *this* picture, which does indeed speak a thousand words.

Chaz and I went to go see Life or Something Like It at a free screening. Angelina Jolie was beautiful, and somewhat amusing in the role, but she really couldn't save the film. The writing was a bit cliche'd, and there were far too many gratuitous product placements. I probably should have snuck into the free screening of Sum of All Fears instead.
